Irell Secures $142 Million Patent Damages Verdict for G+ Communications Against Samsung

An Irell team secured $142 million in patent damages on behalf of client G+ Communications in a retrial of the damages portion of its original case against Samsung over patents essential to the 5G standard. The jury trial was heard by Judge Rodney Gilstrap in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas. The jury’s award of $142 million was the full amount requested.

The Irell team included Jason Sheasby, Lisa Glasser, Benjamin Manzin-Monnin, Michael Harbour and Justin Linetski. Jennifer Truelove of McKool Smith served as co-counsel.

The case is G+ Communications, LLC v. Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., et al., 2:22-cv-00078.
