Irell & Manella Wins IFLR M&A Deal of the Year Award

Irell & Manella LLP was honored at the 2012 International Financial Law Review Americas Awards for its representation of Research In Motion (RIM) in connection with its acquisition of patents from Nortel Networks' patent portfolio in a bankruptcy proceeding.  RIM was part of a consortium of companies that formed an entity named Rockstar to acquire the portfolio.  The $4.5 billion deal was one of the largest ever public sales of intellectual property assets, and one of the largest bankruptcy auction transactions ever.

RIM was represented by Eric Webber, Alan Heinrich and Joel Rabinovitz.
