NewsMichael Ermer Honored with 2024 Marcus M. Kaufman Jurisprudence Award
Michael Ermer was recognized by the Anti-Defamation League with the 2024 Marcus M. Kaufman Jurisprudence Award, alongside Nicole Whyte and Honorable Kirk H. Nakamura (Ret.). Since 1993, the Anti-Defamation League has presented the Marcus M. Kaufman Jurisprudence Award to attorneys who make exceptional contributions not only to the legal profession, but also to the community. The award is made in the memory of Supreme Court Justice Marcus M. Kaufman, the 103rd Justice of the California Supreme Court and a champion for civil rights. Michael was honored at the annual event on September 19, 2024.
Michael maintains an active pro bono practice and currently serves as chair of the firm's Pro Bono Committee. Under his leadership, Irell revamped its pro bono program, resulting in a dramatic increase in pro bono hours and lawyer participation and numerous awards. In 2023, the University of California, Irvine School of Law (UCI Law) recognized his commitment to pro bono service by naming its program The Michael G. Ermer Pro Bono Program.
